That's only telling half of the story. Yes, we hired him to instill a better attacking game in the national team, and throughout the American soccer landscape. But, we also hired him under the caveat that he would accomplish the same qualifying goals as his American managerial predecessors. Remember that Bob Bradley had a a 100% record during this round of qualifying, until his side of experimental players (Adu and Davies the only real standout names) lost a meaningless final round game in Trinidad.
Klinsmann may even have an easier hexagonal to navigate, if results on Tuesday go his way. I am glad that he's willing to take an Alan Gordon or Eddie Johnson, because, as I've reiterated, the USMNT still needs the "non-technical" MLS players for CONCACAF qualification.
