Well, that is just an asinine statement. According to tens of thousands of simulations of the history of baseball, a 56-game or greater hit streak occurs once in about the half of the simulations.

It is an absolutely astonishing accomplishment, but it surely can be done again.

When's the last time someone came close to Joe's hitting streak?

With much better pitching, situational pitchers, the intentional walk, rising strikeout rates, I doubt it ever gets broken.

Less than 1% chance.

With today's NFL and the emphasis on passing, that isn't a record that will last forever.
