I'm still unclear - What was Ashley Cole's role in all of this, besides cussing out the FA on Twitter?

Yeah, where people throw bananas on the field at black players, or people are openly discriminated against in general, but when's the last time that happened in England?
Honestly, people say offensive things all the time. TM7 tweeted "If u rant kill urself. Just drink your beer and watch me do work...consistently," because he was upset that some clown on TD got ripped apart for starting a thread saying that he would go Top 5. John Rocker fricked with the city of New York and was chastised for it... for an appropriate amount of time. These are just two examples, but I would argue that either of the instances were equally offensive.
Where's the outrage over Terry being tried in court? Does anyone else not find that more ridiculous than anything he could have said?

Basically stated the obvious that Terry is not a racist.

Holy shite. I just read the article. Whoever wrote that seriously needs to go ahead and kill themselves yesterday. That was the biggest bunch of pansy dramatic bullshite I've ever read in my life. This guy, actually I hope it's a girl, has clearly never stepped on any sort of athletic field at any level in his life.
Again, :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Excuse me, the commission's report dropped Friday. Still within valid conversation period.

This isn't all that racism is.

Not what point you're trying to make here. Of course, Rocker's racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic rant was ripped for quite awhile. In fact, I just read an article about it in the past 3 months. The Braves condemned everything he said and he was suspended.

Wait, are we comparing the JT26 incident to what John Rocker said? Could this get any more ridiculous?
Posted on 10/7/12 at 8:23 pm to RandySavage
I didn't make the comparison.
And nah, it can't get more ridiculous because this thread jumped the shark when you said what Terry said wasn't racist.

So if Ledley King calls Ryan Giggs a "white piece of shite" he's racist?
Posted on 10/7/12 at 9:57 pm to RandySavage
Yes. Not sure why it was necessary to throw those names out there, but yes.
Posted on 10/7/12 at 10:00 pm to Friend of OBUDan
Alright I'm gonna bow out here. Don't want to have another back and forth thread and I'm probably going to be an a-hole.
Posted on 10/7/12 at 10:16 pm to RandySavage
Why else would you say "white" or "black"? If you're not racist, then you shouldn't even bring up the other person's skin color. Just curse him out in a race-neutral way.
Did Terry deserve to go to court? No.
Are there other times where stuff like this gets said on the field and it doesn't get reported/noticed? Yes.
Did Terry deserve to get fined and suspended? Yes. If Suarez gets fined for stuff like this, CAPTAIN LEADER LEGEND should too. Whether you agree with the punishment or not, the FA has set a precedent.
Is John Terry a racist? Until someone shows me evidence that he's not, I'll continue to say that he is. The fact that he said "black" before saying the rest immediately makes this a racial issue. That's the whole point of the situation.

Just random names and if you think that is racist there is no point in continuing this thread with you because we aren't ever going to come close to agreeing.

How do you "show evidence" that you aren't a racist? A career captaining and embracing teams full of blacks and Africans who back him means nothing? But one comment during a heated game which he didn't even use a racial slur overrides all of that? Come on, use some sense.
Posted on 10/8/12 at 7:20 am to RandySavage
Why did he use the word "black"? Why did he throw race into it?
Posted on 10/8/12 at 9:07 am to WarSlamEagle
I'm not a racist or homophone or anything like that but say all kinds of crazy stuff when I have meltdowns on FIFA.
Seriously though, are people really not able to understand that things that happen on an athletic field are not the same as in your office or out on the street? The guy in the article is insinuating that John Terry and Ashley Cole should be banned from soccer, or at least Chelsea, over this because that's what would happen if they were in a normal business. Are you kidding me? You know what else would get you fired from a normal business? Cursing out rivals in a board room, headbutting, kicking, elbowing them etc..., refusing to do an assigment for your boss so I guess according to this clown 90% of professional soccer players should be "sacked".

Certainly, there are relaxed standards for physical and verbal conduct in sport compared to everyday life. That is not to say sport gives you a free pass to do/say anything you like. Violent conduct outside the accepted norms of the game is punished by both leagues and, on occasion, in the courts. Same thing goes for verbal conduct. Racism is not and should not be an acceptable norm and should be punished.

I agree but like I said I don't really think this even constitutes as racism or at the very worst the lowest possible form of racism imaginable.
I also already know you totally disagree with that which is fine.
