what age do kids start taking footy serious over there? i know in america kids start playing when theyre 4-6, but even for the best ones it doesn't get that serious until at least age 11 or 12. if you dont live in an area with lots of competitive soccer being played it might not get serious til high school, at that point they are so far behind their actual potential it just becomes a hobby so to speak. also i could be completely wrong about all the ages, but this is just what i'm guessing based on my experiences.

canes and dr pepper. study party at...my crib. think i'll probably watch some games i have on the dvr tonight, maybe even watch last weeks homeland episode

Its getting younger actually now. Most larger clubs are starting U9 academy programs with pro coaches training them and seeking competitive style tournaments to play in. In the last 10 years Ive seen it go from U11 being the first year of competitive down to U9.. Hopefully the trend continues.

PS - in Louisiana, about 8 yrs ago we used to play 11 v 11 from U11 ages up. That was changed to 8v8 through U12 and 11v11 starts at U13. Thats a positive imo. (imagine the cluster frick with 22 10yr olds on one field )
