vs.
A procedural series with a strong mythology element like Person of Interest has should be a treat in season two. After twenty-three episodes of easing the audience into this slightly surreal world, where a machine can spit out a number of a person that’s in need of saving, viewers understand the basics of the bigger picture, and they truly know the character types they are dealing with. The case of the week element can drop away, though never full disappearing, in order to bring in more of that mythology—the hows and whys and what nows that follow. Thankfully, that is exactly the pattern that Person of Interest seems to be following, primarily by expanding Root's (Amy Acker) reasoning. The danger here, though, is that Root is easily the most intriguing character, completely overshadowing the show's two supposed heroes.
Person of Interest season 2 episode 1 “The Contingency” which airs Thursday, Sept. 27 (9pm ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Episode Synopsis: With Finch missing – kidnapped by his hacker nemesis, Root, in last season’s finale cliffhanger – Reese enlists Detectives Carter and Fusco to get his friend back, on the second season premiere of PERSON OF INTEREST, Thursday, Sept. 27 (9:00 – 10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Meanwhile, The Machine never sleeps, disseminating a new number to Reese. Ken Leung (“Lost”) guest stars as the latest POI, and Amy Acker (“Dollhouse,” “Angel”) reprises her role as Root.

Finally got around to watching the premier and it was great. Root is a great villain, I hate her guts but at the same times I would be sad if she left the show. This season is going to be damn fine.
