Well, by the transitive property, Towson beat William & Mary by 3 points who lost by 1 point to Maryland who lost to West Virginia by 10. Therefore, Towson would only lose by 8 points to the No. 9 team in the country.
Which reminds me, how the heck is West Virginia ranked No. 9 with wins over Marshall, James Madison and Maryland. Yikes!

Last year, Towson played Maryland very tough for the first half @ College Park and probably should have led at halftime. Maryland pulled away fairly steadily in the 2nd half to win 28-3 and even their slate at 2-2. They did not win again enroute to a final 2-9 mark.
Towson is a good FCS team. We've seen good FCS teams come into Tiger Stadium in the past (App. St, McNeese, even Western Illinois in 2003). If LSU sleepwalks through the early stages, the game could be close for a while. But it should give the coaching staff plenty of opportunities to work out kinks, give young players experience, and rest anyone with injuries.
They may bring some fans down as Towson is a pretty big school in enrollment. I know one family up here that one son at LSU and one at Towson. I was also surprised last year when I put my Maryland tickets to that game up in a church silent auction and the winning bidders were Towson fans, rather than Terps backers.
As always, I'm hoping for the classic Tulane score of my youth.
