So far I've been able to find them frozen at Vinh Phat or (maybe) jarred at Calandro's or Whole Foods. Which ones would you culinary aficionados use first?

Haven't had the jarred, but I'd probably try the frozen first.

I have a jar of the one pictured from Whole Foods and also the matching Thai basil in a jar. Definitely get the fresh ones from Vihn Phat. No comparison. I have always been able to find kafir lime leaves and Thai basil in the refrigerated section at VP. Never bought any frozen. Pick up a can of red or green curry and coconut milk and you are good to go. Add it to sautéed onions, chicken or shrimp and diced eggplant ( if you like eggplant). Serve over rice.
