LSU and the Top 25 in CFB -- Food for thought week 4

I noticed an interesting aspect about this week's results. LSU was the only higher ranked team to play on the road beside Louisville in the top 25. All other higher ranked teams had home games. This doesn't diminish LSU's "tarnished" results, but it may not be as bad as it seems.
Louisville traveled to FIU, not exactly a hostile environment.
OU and UCLA were the higher ranked, home losers.

We could be USC or Arkansas

Oregon didn't look as automatic as the score suggested. Arizona got in the red zone 5-6 times and just couldn't finish. They will drop one to USC or Stanford, perhaps even the Beavers if the Beav's continue playing tough defense.

Well ULM went into that same place and sliced Auburn's defense up for more points and yards than the Tigers. Play like that at Florida and it could be a long day.

This reminded me of last years Mississippi State game a lot. The only difference is Randle caught caught the fade from Lee to give the extra cushion TD. Hostile crowd and team with nothing to loose getting a shot a heavyweight contender. MIles coached both games almost the exact same way, just trying to get out with a simple victory. With all the penalties and metal errors and having a turnstile at LT made Miles even more "tight" than usual.

Do you honestly think that Auburn gets motivated for ULM like they do LSU? We always have a tough time there. I think someone posted last night that we have only won at Jordan-Hare 4 times in the last 30 years and the average score over the last decade or so is like 13-11 roughly. So it played out pretty much according to the historical script. I'm just glad we were able to walk out with a win. It could have easily gotten away from us and gone the other way.

I don't care what ULM did at Auburn. The "knee jerk" reaction that LSU looked like crap may not be as bad and that the road environment played a part. The final score stands out even more considering that almost all of the Top 25 played home games this weekend.
