Would that be the biggest stadium in the sunbelt?

Yeah, it won't be any bigger than 50k IMO.

From what I remember from the last time I was at that place (the Oklahoma State game in 2010), their scoreboards are pathetic. The one that works has a tiny screen that's hard to see, plus it's directly in front of the setting sun, so not only is it hard to look at, it's blinding too. And the one on the opposite end of the field didn't even work (don't know if they fixed it yet or not).

We also sucked until last year so there's that. Rusty Cloutier said he wants to make the stadium as nice as Boone Pickens and while I don't expect that level, an upgrade will be nice. If we have another season or two going to bowls and being at or near the top of the conference, 50k isn't a longshot at all.
These kind of improvements aren't just done to give space to more fans, it's to attract other conferences. If we can get a nicely rennovated 50k seat stadium, we'll be more attractive than we were with an old and ugly 31k seat stadium.
It also helps with recruiting. This is undoubtedly a good move.

I was at that game.
Previous record was when they beat A&M.

But if Hud leaves after this or next year, and the program dwells in mediocrity, it won't matter an the stadium will be at <50%
eta: I guess if there is money to waste, go for it. At worst you just have to handle seeing a depressingly empty stadium.
At best it vaults the program up another level.

If Hud leaves many expect the university to make another good hire. We now have the money to do so. We didn't have that luxury in the past. Like I said, the administration is committed to our athletic program for the first time. Things are different now.

Is there anything to back this? Can I see it?

I think the Athletic Department is a lot more willing and able to pay more money than they were pre-Hud.

Various reports out there that if we win another bowl game this year, Hud's salary gets bumped to 1 mil/yr. RCAF is growing pretty quickly.

Is this just message board rumors?

That's hard to believe, considering what's-his-face never made more than 200k.

Hud is worth every penny he is getting paid by the university imo. Best thing to happen to the football program....

He's already making ~ 750,000 this year. That info came from people who are usually pretty reliable.

Who are the people? People you know IRL or people on message boards?

Is that something in his contract or it would be renegotiated? What was his original contract anyway?

Original contract was around 300-400k. He got an extension after last season with a raise and increased buyout. I think there's supposed to be clauses that trigger another raise, one of which is winning another bowl game.
We just started RCAF like 3 years ago so we never had this kind of money before. Apparently local banks are supposed to be helping finance the renovations and suite sales. If Boone Pickens Stadium is the model, I'll be very happy.
They're going to release plans against Arkansas State
