As much as we miss SP (that is NOT a surprise to any reasonable person) we are a play or two in each loss away from victory. No reason to panic yet.
You bet your sweet bippee we're at a disadvantage. If the end result of RogerGate sides with the Saints then the Saints need and must be compensated for their losses. How does Drew Brees get compensated for the sacrifice of a year in his presitgous career by not having his mentor and Coach?
My fear is that the NFL is so powerful that far too many sources don't want to see it's armor chinked...protection for the credibility of the league, so to speak. If the NFL goes down I believe a new league would have to be birthed...sort of like Penn State football having to be rebirthed after their scandal.
There is so much at stake here.

that's more or less my fear. goodell and the nfl are pot committed, so to speak. at this point they've done clear and irreparable harm to the organization (lost draft picks, lost personnel and staff, arguably lost games) so they've got to prove that they had something to justify the punishments. if they can't, a whole new can of worms gets opened.

i hate to sound like a conspiracy nut, but the reality is that there are a lot of people with various personal and professional connections who could see it as Best For The League if the saints just eat the bullet on this one now that its gotten this far.
