Gary Danielson made a Great Point about LSU Football

During the Ark/Bama game he said basically this:
"I watched the National Championship Game last year, and I can tell you this LSU team is VERY different. You can't put 8 men in the box anymore against them."
This signifies a shift in the offensive identity of this team. And this is what it's going to take to beat BAMA. It's also the reason why we are seeing some mistakes early. Establishing the passing culture takes time.
He also said something like this:
"BAMA doesn't like to throw. The offensive linemen actually get angry when a pass play comes in from the sideline. The want to grind it out and run."
Interesting. Might be the difference on Nov. 3rd.
Couple of other points:
1. Note the improvement each week of the wide-receivers as they get more comfortable.
2. Points have been made about the lack of size of our WR's. Florida dominated for years without a big "possession receiver".
3. Still no receptions from the TE's. Someone made the point that LSU doesn't have TE's that can catch. Is this true? This position is too critical.

They can still throw it very well.

That's great and all...but we still have Auburn, Florida, South Carolina and Texas A&M first.

Yes, BAMA can. But now we can too.

Clement has stone hands for sure. He dropped a bunch last year. Jacobs, well nobody really knows unless they get to watch practice.

Right. But I think LSU can still overwhelm these teams with athleticism and the running game to win. For BAMA, the passing game has to be there. (Even though JJ beat them once with the option)

there have been a few practice vids of him, he can't catch either
I would like to see some formations for Ware going to the slot and running TE-like routes.

That would create the same type of mismatches since the LB would have to pick him up.

Even tried to slip a short pass in to Copeland, but that is obviously not going to be an option this season.
Sheppard made a couple of great catches last night thankfully.

I like it.
Also, have we seen any RB screens yet this season? I don't remember seeing any. I thought there was some talk around Spring practice about trying to put more of these in.

By the end of this year, I expect this team's passing game to be full throttle. So we might see that next week.

Yeah, that'd be great!

It's truly getting better each week especially with respect to Mett. You can see him growing in confidence and experience. The wr's still need to improve some. There's not enough separation in their routes but all in all we're becoming a much more balanced, and therefore much less predictable, team.

Lsu has to hold teams like auburn to zeros before I'm convinced we are better than last season. Our d last year was brilliant at every position except lb where we were ok.
Defense is what separates us from pretenders. If we played th same schedule as last, how many on here relieve we would be undefeated. Oregon and wvu are both outstanding again.

I believe we'd be 3-0. Obviously you prepare differently for Idaho and N. Texas than you do WVU and Oregon.
I believe this team is fortunate to have the opportunity to develop the passing game against lesser opponents. But, if by necessity it had to come quicker - so be it.

Maybe it's the brown acid, but I have a seaming suspicion that The Hat will have some special pkgs for BAMA. Maybe a Shep wildcat.

I hope they get to that point by mid Oct.
