If the people that run the band would just give the students what they want, which is the "neck" cheer, it might not be such a big deal ... until they do, I bet the students keep doing the hand and adding "suck that tiger dick, bitch" to everything.
I really don't care, but trying to censor the LSU Student Section, by removing things like "oh-we-oh" and "neck" is counterintuitive. The students aren't logical--if you take "neck" away they're just going to get drunker and add the words to something else.
The whole thing shows that the people that run the band and/or the music in TS have no f'ing idea about how to deal with drunk students, which is pretty hilarious since they are in the higher education business.

It's not the band or the band director. The orders come from way above the band director, it's LSU's admin that hands down the orders to stop playing songs.
I'm surprised that they haven't rewritten Hey Fightin' Tigers.
