I've given up on Smith. I've made every excuse under the sun for him the last few years (doubled teamed, always being held, not enough help on the D-line), but every elite pass rusher in the game faces those same issues and still produce. I'm glad his suspension was over turned, but the dude doesn't hasn't been getting it done and hasn't for a while now.

i wasn't.... would have much rather a combination of Gallette/Wilson applying actual pressure on the QB....

he should be a DT... he's too heavy and slow to play DE....

other elite pass rushers are usually not as heavy, are more athletic, and/or they play standing up in a 3-4 alignment.... he doesn't have the speed to get around the tackle to get pressure, so he basically is reduced to a bull rush (which doesn't work) or a rip or twist move (also, doesn't usually work).... the best we can hope for is a blown assignment by a back in pass protection or a breakdown along the interior line, resulting in less attention being paid to the ends, which would allow him to get upfield without much resistance..... but aside from that, he's a consistent non-factor on passing plays.....
