If this gets confirmed, USC could be done in football for several years.
Could be a go-between with an agent, or an SC booster.
Somebody felt they had something to gain by giving him money/gifts.
Reggie Bush's sugar daddy wasn't an SC booster. . .

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China. The dude got paid and paid good, which is illegal. Whether he was a booster of UWash or a regular on Beverly Hills 90210 is immaterial.
