Just read something that said you need a 48kw generator to run the entire house.

Yes.


Parents have a 25kw for a 3700 sqft on 3 central air units. Runs the whole house comfortably. They have several gas components though, gas hot water heaters, gas stove, etc.

Neighbors have a 16kw that runs their house fine.
