He will easily gain 20 lbs over the next three years. If he is here for four years I would put the over under n his weight at 235.

I have no doubt he will....I am just worried about this year. Like I said we have an amazing pass rushing team which will help with the young corners but if we cant stop the run its not gonna matter. We have a relatively small but VERY fast defense...I just want some beef at LB to stuff the run up the middle. This team is built to crush teams like Oregon but Bama has potentially 3 first rounders on their offensive line and I am scared they are gonna be able to shove it down our throat unless we get size.

We need some 265lb LBers like Donta Hightower.

I am serious but ideally I would like them around 240 with the same speed they have now. I only used Donta as an example because he was so great at stuffing the run for Bama last year. If we still had Brockers on the line I wouldnt be as worried. The ONLY game I am worried about is Bama and its only because they have the best o-line in college football and a big running back in Lacy. Some beef at LB would ease my concerns.

Warmack isnt going round 1 and they didnt shove it down our throat at all last yr with Trent R. Plus, our front 7 is better now with guys like freak, ego, and Rasco with another yr of development. Size, speed, and technique have to be considered. Technique over size all day long. Don't let Tahj Jones or any other LB size fool you. Tahj actually had his best games vs bama.

Scroll down the page a bit for his highlights. I love how patient he is and then how aggressive he gets. I have no idea how he was a 3 star.

I really don't think this years D will be as good as last years but I hope you are right. Hopefully the offense will make up for it.

We've held Bama well below their average rushing the last few times. We stop the run with speedy guys swarming to the football, they use big defenders to occupy blockers. Different systems, but both work. Hightower is probably a DE in our system, Upshaw definitely is. Apples to Oranges

This coaching staff deserves a lot of credit. The defense was suppose to be worse each of the last 2 years but has improved under Cheif. I personally believe our front 7 is better. Anyone is an upgrade over hatcher and Francois and I love the d line depth and youth at linebacker coming in.. The secondary at corner behind tharold is the question. But it seems when we question this secondary, they remind us Lsu is DBU!

Lamin Barrow came into his freshman year at like 210. He is now one of LSU's bigger linebackers @ 230. For Chavis' system that seems pretty ideal.

Jones is the type of lb that's ideal for Chavis's system.
Think about when he had Jerod Mayo in Tenn. I think
Jones is the same type of player as Mayo

Based on what? The secondary may not be quite as good, but the front 7 will no doubt be better. As for Debo, Chavis loves LB's around 215-220 that can run as opposed to guys that are 240-250 and can't move as well. This kid will be a stud over the next few years. I believe all of the freshman LB's will be

I genuinely laugh at people who think they know better than John Chavis. LSU quality recruits + John Chavis = defenses like the one we saw in 2011.

It's as if you are brand new to seeing Chavis defenses.

Chavis does not want his outside linebackers 240 lbs. His own words are he will never choose size over speed.

Ryan Baker played at around 225 most of his career. Both of those guys will thrive at that size.
