GRRM loves trolling people with death scenes. Everyone thought Davos was dead in AFFC, but nope, he was alive in ADWD. Same with the Red Wedding chapter and Arya; nope, the Hound just knocked her out to save her life, not kill her. Catelyn Stark is "dead," nope Beric resurrects her as Lady Stoneheart. Brienne is "hung" by LS, nope she meets Jaime again in ADWD. Bran after falling from the window; nope, wakes up from coma.
I have a feeling the same will happen to Jon. We're all going to think he's dead when he is either: 1) brought back to life, 2) in a coma like Bran was and wakes up.

Ned Stark, Renly Baratheon, The Red Viper, Quynten Martel, Khal Drogo, Vysaries Targaryen, Tywin Lannister, Joffrey Baratheon, Kevin Lannister, Robb Stark, Maester Aemon Targaryen, The Halfhand, Lord Commander Mormont, Ygritte, ect are all pretty dead.
