They actually made us like Stannis ahead of schedule in the show with season two. I didn't start liking him to the Wall in book 3.

Neil Marshall had Stannis go up the ladder and fight like a bad arse. Book Stannis would not have done that.

I love Stannis now...the moment that sealed the deal for me was when he gave Jon "the nod" to execute Slynt. Whenever I think of that scene I (for some reason) replay the moment in my mind with the American Frick Yeah song from Team America World Police.
