They are in damage control right now, and the old man has something that may provide the tipping point. This very well could have been a courtesy to share what has been unearthed.

again all conjecture, but think about it. I cannot think of too many other scenarios that make sense. Couple that with Benson's comments to Payton during the HOF game, the hanging of the picture, his comments about how he feels about the league office.
