What exactly is this? I put a stock symbol into scottrade and it was telling me that it was traded on the grey market.

On a side note, can I use Scottrade to purchase something directly from the London exchange?

Got this from Wikipedia....

quote:

Public company securities that are not listed, traded or quoted on any U.S. stock exchange or the OTC markets are sometimes purchased or sold over the counter (OTC) via the grey market. Grey market securities have no market makers quoting the stock. Since grey market securities are not traded or quoted on an exchange or interdealer quotation system, investor's bids and offers are not collected in a central spot so market transparency is diminished and best execution of orders is difficult.[6]

You can not use Scottrade to buy something on the LSE. For that I would use either Etrade, Saxo bank, or Evertrade
