I figured I would wound the chicken inhumanely so it would go to squealing and bleeding. Then smoke the sneaky fox bastards as they were lured into an easy dinner.
Or tie the chicken up and hope I shoot faster and better than the fox(s) complete their recon mission.

You can buy live traps with a chicken box built on them. The chicken is safe in the box. But they work better for bobcats. Fox are actually pretty easy to get in a foothold. Trap placement is key
