The move comes as a mild surprise, as Addai had inked a one-year contract in May that included a $75,000 signing bonus and $50,000 workout bonus. This leaves second-year players Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen, Danny Woodhead and rookie free agent Brandon Bolden as the lone backs on the roster.

Will be a breakout player this year if they let him

They save alot of money that way, even the minimum veteran pay with his years in league comes out to more than the others demand.
Strictly a #s move IMO.......
btw, knowing Mannng, he'll try to get Denver to move on him asap

yeah, there should be plenty of carries for him with McGahee and Moreno...

Peyton knows Addai can block. Idk if I'd want No-Show blocking for me.

I'll withhold my opinions on Addai's NFL play because I know critiquing any former LSU player is a cardinal sin to most on this board.

Pretty good career so far, I'd say. Blast away, Pal.
And yes, he will be defended by most here - after all, he was a fairly unheralded RB going into the draft, considering like many RB's at LSU, could've gotten more carries and more PR at other schools.... and maybe drafted higher, but played great when he had his chances - the pros saw his value, and he's done pretty well for Indy and himself over the past several years in spite of nagging injuries from time-to-time. AND, he represented LSU very well during his college career...a consummate team player!

he was a first round pick...
I loved him here. But his college career and his NFL career are two different things. He's been a little bit underwhelming in the NFL especially after his first 2 seasons IMO...

Me too; I had the pleasure of being at that game. One of my favorites. Love beating the gators

NFL RB careers continue to shorten. I do not blame any RB in college who declares early for the NFL. If Ware, Ford and Blue declare, thank you for your service and I totally understand why you would want to make the leap.
Addai at this point would be best to try and become a 3rd down back somewhere. He blocks very well and can catch some passes and do something with them.

How can four backs be considered "lone backs"? The term "lone" is designated for use when referring to a single person/object.
Maybe there were four Lone Rangers.
Can Texas claim to be the Lone Star State, if say, Tennessee decides to become a Lone Star State too?

Father TIme is undefeated.
Maybe this is not the last stop for Addai, and maybe it is.

This opens the door for ridley, he's got some serious potential.

as a featured back, yes. He can probably bank what is good money to us for a couple of years as a back up RB.
