not surprised. So, moving on from Dempster, who are we most likely to target at the deadline?

I was the biggest fan of Dempster, but this shite has pissed me off. Why put us second and then not decide not to come. What a dick. I'm ok with most of the guys out there except Liriano. I don't want Liriano.

I think we still get Dempster.

Other than him, not a whole lot of guys make sense.

The only names that help are Hamels, Grienke, and Garza.

Hamels isn't coming here. We all know the story with Grienke. And the Braves haven't seemed to track Garza all that much.

What about Shields? I'd be great with landing Big Game Shields. He would probably be great in the NL.

Would you be willing to "sell the farm" for Greinke? I'm not sure I am ready to make that big of a gamble yet. I want to go into the off-season with Chippers money off the books, see how we approach Bourn, and other positions.

Im scared that the Cubs and Dodgers have already driven up the price of Garza more than we are willing to pay.

I think it's Dempster or promoting from within. I can't see our FO making a desperation move like Teheran plus extras for Greinke

I'm not a fan of selling the farm for Greinke. But I'm not the biggest Greinke fan either. I think he is a little overrated and has issues. Washington has now expressed interest in him though? That would be crazy. I could also see him going to Texas or NY.

I think shields would excel in the NL.

Other than demp and grenkie, shields would help.

I wouldn't sell tehran for anything.

I haven't been following Shields all that much because I still don't buy the Rays are willing to trade him off, even with the excess of young arms that they have.

Thought I read where they are looking for a young C, so I assume any deal would have to begin with bethancourt, and then adding in an arm.

I'd love to have Shields though.

Do the club options come along with Shields if he is traded? I could get on board with trading Delgado for Shields and club options for '13 and '14. It would take more than just Delgado though if that is the case.

08:$1M, 09:$1.5M, 10:$2.5M, 11:$4.25M, 12:$7M club option ($2M buyout), 13:$9M club option ($1.5M buyout), 14:$12M club option ($1M buyout)

Braves Could Acquire Ryan Dempster

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [July 24 at 9:05am CST]
TUESDAY, 9:05am: Dempster has given preliminary indications that he'd accept a trade to the Braves, ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick reports (Twitter links). However, Dempster felt blindsided when news of the proposed deal leaked before the Cubs reached him.
