I am headed to Toledo Bend this weekend to do some fishing (bass) and was wondering what everybody has had success on recently.

Have not been, but I'd be hitting the mouths of creeks looking for schoolies. All depends on what part you're going to though.

We have a camp on the Texas side (Hemphill). I will be fishing out of a 12' aluminum boat so I wont have a depth finder. Was planning on fishing some grass beds, stumps and lilly pads.

That use to be good 6-7 years ago when it had grass. Is the grass back since the last lowering?

Not been out there since. Last time I was near it, it was a perch trip, so we just zoomed right on by. Used to be my favorit late Jan/early Feb spot to slow roll a huge white single blade spinner. Quality bites out there.

Not sure. I will try and find out. We just bought the camp about two years ago and I have only been a few times but am going to start going much more frequently.

Chase the schoolies from what I've heard.

I havent either, but the last lowering recked havoc on it so I assume this one did too. It did wonders to our 15 ft humps that had time to grow a litte grass though.

You are at a good place. Texas side mid lake is by far my favorite fishing.

We usually just fish off the dock when the fish are schooling throwing a spinner bait into them or a rattle trap. I want to venture out a little and fish from the boat or the kayak so I was wondering what yall have had success on in the summer.

This is usually what we do.

If you find grass edges, this is where I'd worm fish. Topwater early too.
For schoolies, just about any topwater can work in addition to the trap. I am having best luck with a tail kicker/spinner like this,
They will hit it when actively chasing on top, and you can get bites when you see no activity by counting it down some and slowly retrieving.

I have fished over there many days in a set up like your talking about, but it was in Slaughter Creek. I learned it the hard way growing up. Now I couldnt fish without a depth finder this time of year. I never fish in less than 12ft of water on humps.
Carolina rigged trick worm has been almost all Ive fished there this year, though fwiw
