I watched Dragon Ball for the first time ever last year. I didn't think it would come close to DBZ but I was wrong. I enjoyed it just as much as I did DBZ. I would still give the nod to DBZ being better but it's close.

Dragon Ball is awesome. One of my all time favorite characters is Kid Goku. Except when he's in GT.
DB is pretty much a comedy. It doesn't take itself seriously but at the same time is hugely entertaining. DBZ up to the Buu Saga was the complete opposite. During Buu, they tried to add a lot of comedic value but it was just kind of out of place. GT tried to be DB with the DBZ fights and it was awful.
