I am being offered to renew with Cirro @:

500kWh 1,000kWh 2,000kWh
Average price per kWh 11.7¢ 9.7¢ 9.3¢

fixed rate for 12 months.

Anyone know of a better deal?

I need to choose another one also....i was looking at powertochoose.com and Amigo Energy had about the best deal.

Actually just looked...Some company called Summer Energy has best rate 9.2/8.9/8.8 for fixed 12 months.

Amigo is 11.4/9.1/9

I am currently with DirectEnergy

Does the company really matter when it comes to electricity? I don't see why it would, right?

ETA: I went to their website and they only have one plan for residential and it's not the same pricing that they have on powertochoose.com

I honestly don't think it does, but not sure, I've always had pretty well known companies (TXU, Reliant, Direct) but I might have to consider Summer. Our house rarely uses over 1000kw, except during summer.

You actually only get the 8.8 if you use over 2000kwh

your rates are 11.4/9.0/8.8

We haven't even come close to using 2000kwh in our house. New home very energy efficient. Think the most we've used is 1500 in a 3300sq ft house.

go to powertochoose.com

You can compare all the different rates and providers. Its published by the Public Utility Commission of Texas.

Did you have a promo code for summer energy? I can't find that plan you mentioned on their website.

Don't think that is fixed, which means they will screw you.

Agreed - while I do have to use 2000 kwh, my wife has that on lock-down.

Wow, I don't I've gone over 1500 once, even with 12 extra people living with us over Christmas.

No because the retail providers don't own the power lines. Those are separate outfits. If your power goes out you call the number on the bill which goes to the power line company, not to your provider.

Just be aware of any fees. I think some companies' plans charge you to call in a trouble report or call to speak to a rep. Also, keep in mind any move or cancellation fees. I have Reliant for now.
