Three observations: Charlie Mac made some of the worst coaching decisions of all time. Down 10-0 deep in Nebraska territory at the end of the first half, he leaves the field goal on the board instead of going for it on 4th and six inches. In 1967 at Tennessee, LSU was deep in UT terrritory with about 20 seconds to go in the game down by 3. On third down, McClendon chose to play for a tie and tried a field goal, ON THIRD DOWN! We missed and lost the game. How he got away with that stuff is beyond me. Finally, did you notice near the end of the first half that Mike was standing on the sidelines without his head on? ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Compared to today, there was almost zero scrutiny for a head coach back then.
