I am 100% convinced, if Luis Suarez played on the team of anyone else on this message board, they would love him and hold him in the highest regard... as we do..

Well to be fair, I think most UTD supporters would still admit that he's world class...and he might have made them forget about Tevez and Berbatov (although, didn't he lead the league in goals in 2010? Or was that 2011?) but I don't think he would've fit their system as well as he does ours. The best line is about him not being a cheat.

I think we all are. Its the fact that we have him and everyone else doesn't. Its blatantly obvious, which is why its so amusing when this board vilifies him. But what do you expect? Tribalism at its best.

He's got an attitude of "frick everybody that is not Liverpool". Everyone would want a player with that mentality, particularly a player of Suarez' caliber.
Posted on 4/10/13 at 1:06 pm to xavierTIGER
Which is why that thread stook out to me. It was 3 pages of "he can do whatever he wants, as long as he wears Manc red."

Actually tribalism explains y'alls opinions more than everyone elses. Just look at the way chelsea fans look at JT. (Not saying Suarez is even close to that bad, just an example. You all know I've rounded the corner on Luis and just think he embellishes a bit and otherwise no problem with him anymore)

That's what he was saying. A player is defended when he wears your club's shirt. And vilified when he isn't.

Well yeah but my point is wouldn't the outsiders view be less biased and thus tend to be closer to the truth?
Posted on 4/10/13 at 1:31 pm to Jumbeauxlaya
Not all the times... the guy is vilified through out the entire country for really, no good reason... its become the "thing to do" when Suarez plays...
I just like the fact, like Xavier says, he plays with a frick you attitude and it doesnt get in his head...

That reminded me, I was reading a ManUre board recently and there was a thread about Suarez... as you'd guess, it was mainly calling him a despicable human being with the odd poster admitting he was a terrific footballer... but the post that stood out was one complimenting him and ending with something like... but christ, doesn't the fricker ever get tired or hurt!?!?!
It made me smile...

Yeah agreed, although the informed opinions seems to have transitioned to general respect for his play and making fun of the ridiculous Suarez is evil premise
As an example, the running joke on reddit something like "Yeah but Suarez did it first" or other shite that lampoons the medias labeling of him
ETA: I guess the problem is the lack of informed people

Maybe in some circumstances, but certainly not in Suarez's. He was the media's posterboy for "how not to play football" for quite some time. It rubbed off on many fans, and people upheld his stereotype without even watching him play on a regular basis.
The only real circumstances where an outside fan can be "closer to the truth" is when they watch close to the same amount of matches as the fan of the actual club. Because even without being a fan of Liverpool, the English media have by and large created a bias in "neutral" fans against him.
Bingo. The problem is that your average, casual fan who only sees 5 second gifs of Suarez's latest dive, rather than watch him play a couple times a month for 90 minutes, is just as "biased" as an LFC fan.

Yeah true, so I suppose in order of opinions I'd believe the most would be
Neutral soccer guy who watches most pool matches > Pool fan >>> average watch 2 matches a week fan

Easily his best attribute. His passion for the game is nearly unmatched in professional sports. It's often times his downfall as well, but he wouldn't be the player he is today without that passion.
He is often held hostage by his desire to win at all costs. His work ethic/attitude/antics on the field mirror that.
Every single interview with an LFC trainer/player/staff member when discussing Suarez's work ethic will say that he is the worst imaginable player to train against during practice. And yet, that makes him the best possible player to train against. He plays just as hard in practice as he would in a World Cup final. That type of personality is infectious, and while irritating at times I'm sure, makes every player on LFC's squad better on a daily basis.
His injury record speaks for himself. He takes care of his body, and is blessed to have healthy joints/bones.

Probably right. An LFC fan will, in most cases (I'm looking at you Charlie Adam), give an LFC player the benefit of the doubt when it comes to form/attitude/work ethic troubles. A neutral fan wouldn't have that.

I'm glad there is no Olympics or Copa America this summer (unless I'm missing something)... I think he could probably use a restful summer...
edit: Crap, I believe he has the Confederations Cup?

I used to believe that Suarez could always use a break, but if it ain't broke don't fix it.
He's been playing like this for awhile and the constant games keep his body in top shape, while also keeping him in top form as well.

Back to reality...
In the span of about ten tweets just now, I read Raphael Honigstein tweeting that Man City's Begiristain met with Mario Götze's agent last month with a view to activating a €40m release clause....
And a few down that Brendan Rodgers is keeping an eye on Jay Rodriguez (Soton)

Not even worried. Mancini will frick his career up like he has with Nasri, Rodwell, Clichy, Garcia, Dzeko, etc.
Götze is a good player but he will get lost in the shuffle at City.
