I'm on a bit of a health kick and I'm looking for something healthily to snack on during the day. Store bought granola isn't very healthy for you. And I was wondering if any of you have ever made some homemade granola. If you have would you mind giving me a good recipe?

TIA

Doesn't Whole Foods carry bins of this stuff so you can get what ever blends you want?

this isn't what you asked for but if you're looking for healthy snacks you may be interested.

No-Bake Energy Bites Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup (dry) oatmeal (I used old-fashioned oats)
2/3 cup toasted coconut flakes
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup ground flaxseed or wheat germ
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
1/3 cup honey
1 tsp. vanilla
Method:

Stir all ingredients together in a medium bowl until thoroughly mixed. Let chill in the refrigerator for half an hour. Once chilled, roll into balls of whatever size you would like. (Mine were about 1? in diameter.) Store in an airtight container and keep refrigerated for up to 1 week.

Makes about 20-25 balls.

As far as granola goes, I've made a couple of different kinds. Go to Pinterestand type "granola" in the search bar. They have a million recipes, it just depends on what you want to put in yours.

I buy a brand called bear naked granola, it comes in a few varieties. They sell it at Whole Foods and Target. I put that stuff on everything! Hopes this helps

My wife makes homemade granola for me. Love her and it. Great stuff - it doesn't taste "healthy"! I'll see if she'll loan the recipe and post.

Got a recipe at home that my family has made for years. Includes wheat germ, oatmeal, honey, nuts and recently the wife and I have added flaxseed and pine nuts. Let me see if she can forward it to me and I will get it posted.

2-1/2 c Oats (uncooked)
1/2 c packed brown sugar
1/2 c chopped nuts
1/3 c honey
1/3 c melted butter
1/2 c coconut
1/4 c wheat germ
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c raisins/chopped apricots/chopped dates

Mix all ingredients minutes raisins. Put in 13x9 pan and cook @ 325 for 20-25 minutes stirring occasionally. Stir in raisins and let it cool.

Like I said, add whatever you want to it. Think we did some dark chocoalte morsels once, just add them at the end like raisins or else the shite gets messy.
