Just Installed Windows 8 on my computer....

First off... 
2nd.....Man it sucks.
As you may have guessed, they set it up to function similiar to Windows 8 phones and it is pretty worthless when it comes to being ported to a desktop computer.
They do have a program which is basically a clone of the Xbox 360 dashboard, but with less features.
I'm going to keep playing around, but I just don't see anything worth making the switch from 7...at least at this point

yeah, I heard the same when it was first being talked about with regards to it being more of a mobile platform that won't transition well to desktop. let's be honest though, everyone by now should realize that you don't trust the release after a good OS. 98 good, millenium/2k were shite, xp great, vista shite, 7 great...8? you get the picture.

Very true,
but this is honestly windows 7 layout wise with the windows 8 mobile block theme for the start menu (which takes you to a whole new screen).
It is basically windows 7 but more inefficient when it comes to the GUI.

what'd you do, create a partition seperate of your main 7 partition to try it out?
there's no way i'd format over windows 7 to try 8.

its an extra computer that i mess around with so i just formatted over XP and installed 8 by itself.
I got a copy through MSDNAA and my Ohio State EE membership which is somehow still active 4 years after i graduated.
