I feel they admitted to pay for performance - nothing more. It's looking pretty solid (especially with Shanle's admission) there was a pay for performance. It seems the NFL got giddy and thought they'd extrapolate this admission into something they could show as evidence of 'effort' to make the NFL safer in future suits.
Everything they have put forth publicly, however, has been a pay to injure theme. I would love nothing more than to see Ginsberg/Vilma body slam Goodell in their suit. I think Goodell knows he's screwed and that's why he blew a gasket with Ginsberg the other day.

I think it is fairly well established now as fact that there was a Pay for Performance program.
It also seems pretty obvious to me that within that program were payoffs for big hits, which included "cart offs", "knockouts" and "whacks". It is not a big leap to assume that a "cart off" very likely meant someone on the other team got hurt.
Doesn't take a genius to connect the dots to "Pay for Injury".
It is a leap, but a very small leap, and intent is absolutely irrelevant. Someone got hurt, and someone got paid for the hit. It's really pretty simple. The want to defend the home team runs very, very deep. I get that, but anyone who thinks that the Saints front office and these 4 players are completely innocent of any wrongdoing has his head buried very deeply in the sand.
