Making a quick Yak trip in the AM. I found the launch, but never fished the area. Heard it holds Bass and access to trout.
Anyone fished it before? Are there fish in the area?

The suction ALWAYS has fish.

Don't they have a launch at the end of lower Levee right where it enters the lake?

They do, but with the water being high, you might not be able to get to it, they close it sometimes.

That's what sucks about kayak fishing. I have a couple friends that don't even make plans to fish in the Spring because of the wind. Fall only for them. They don't hunt though.

Unless you go out under the interstate, its all protected waters, and wont be bad as far as the water is concerned.

You can drive to damn near the end of the spillway on the West side. You can also access that canal that runs SW to NE on the western side. Just drive next to the bridge past the borrow pits and take a right around the crawfish areas. There is a dirt road going all of the way back to the end. You can also turn left of it to get to that small canal.
So yakers need a frickin boat launch? Isn't the whole point of having one the fact that you can launch anywhere and go places that regular boats can't?

My understanding is that the suction is the two canals on each side of the spillway that run from Airline to the lake.
