Or when they interview the, before.
"Yeah I'd like to get $4000 but the least I would take is $2000." Then they walk out of the store happy with like $75.

I'd like to know to what degree is it actually scripted. I've heard some people say that the producers find the items themselves, and then just find random people and tell them to pretend to bring it in.
I'm sure that's the case for some of the stuff, but I think that some of the people are actually selling their own stuff, and that leads me to my main point: 99% of people are terrible negotiators.
Rick: "How much are you looking to get?"
Dude: (looks at the ground) "I mean, I was hoping to get around $1000?"
Rick: Hell no. 100 bucks, take it or leave it."
Dude: ok...

This always cracks me up. Half of the time the people will say "I wanted $2,000 but I thought $200 was a fair price."
