Hey, its not the first time I've heard that it may be a talent problem. I don't actually disagree that we need to upgrade our talent.

But, do you mind telling me what our hitting philosophy is?

I think it's to work the pitchers, put runners in motion, and have the 3 and 4 hole hitters bring them in.

With that said, i'm not sayin javi is great. We moved nola into the leadoff because he appeared to be the only guy, maybe ryhmes, who has the "ability" to work a pitcher. With that said, neither have the speed to turn outs into hits.

lastly, you can coach a short balanced swing, foul off 50/50 pitches until the pitcher makes a mistake to get your pitch all you want. The player has to have the "ability" to do such a thing. i don't see jones, fields, edward, katz, hanover, ect having the ability to fight off pitches.

I just have a hard time understanding if it's coaching, then how can a hitter like rymes do what he did with this coach then a guy like fields do what he does coached by the same coach?

same with nola, he doesn't hit for the same average as rymes. however, he does have quality at bats. last night he didn't get a hit, however, fought to full counts and smoked some balls that s.b. ran down. Yet, katz can't lay off a ball at his eyes.

rhymes hit for average before he got to LSU, LSU coaching has little to do with his talent level vs. fields.
