I dont know about Tulane, but I did 2 classes through LSU independent study after I graduated for the same reason (I only needed 5 hours to be CPA eligible).

The independent study classes are much cheaper than enrolling full time. Also, they were very easy because I only had to do the assignments and submit them online. Then I just had to show up to LSU 3 times for each class to take tests. But you can find a proctor to administer the exams in another city (NOLA in your case) if you dont want to drive in for the tests.

The one catch is that most state board of cpa's limit the amount of distance learning credits that will apply to your cpa eligibility. I work in TX now so I can't speak for LA. Check on LA's website to find out how many hours can be distance learning.

Also, if you were just a general business major and not an acct major, you may want to look into actually taking the real courses because they will probably prepare you for the CPA exam much better than distance learning (it was kind of a joke). Just a thought.
