I almost needed an intervention in the late nineties to escape this group in Baton Rouge.
Tell us your experience.
It does seem very cult like, but I am not sure if it falls under the definition of a cult.

I was half-heartedly joking with the 'cult' comment. All you have to do is attend the city-wide large 'training' sessions and you'll understand what I'm talking about.
The behavior of some of the members is somewhat cultish, in my opinion. When someone didn't consistantly attend the weeknight meetings and the Saturday morning training sessions, they were accused of not being dedicated to their "Financial Independence." When a person or family decided to leave the group, then they were disparaged and made fun of at following meetings gatherings.
The people at the entry level will only move up to higher commissions and residual incomes if they tap into their friends and family. Whenever a member gets the license for mutual funds sales anyone above them in the chain receives significant commissions without doing any work.
I just felt creepy with the constant pressure to talk my family into purchasing the insurance and investing in the offered mutual funds.
