I need to pick one for lunch tomorrow... What says the F&D board? What are the best menu items at either?

Herbsaint for sure. After lunch stroll down to the Swizzle Stick Bar and get a great cocktail or 7.

Work is a foreign concept for you at this point in your life isn't it?

Not at all. I work my arse off most days. But, a Friday lunch in NOLA at a good place should be the ebd of the day IMO.

What kind of work affords you this luxury if you don't mind me asking?

If you want 25 cent martinis, then Adelaide. Food is better at Herbsaint.

Food is always more important to me... But I may just take that little stroll down to the Swizzle Stick Bar and get a cocktail.

I don't get downtown much at all during the week. When I was younger I worked downtown as a stockbroker and most Fridays were done after lunch. My family had a business in Harahan and my dad asked me to run it when I was 29. Chemical Distribution is what it would be called.
Sold the business just before Katrina and I run the Gulf South region for the new company. I wear shorts 95% of the time with a polo. And thankfully have to do physical work on a daily basis or I would be a fatass from my diet and drinking habits. I drive a forklift like a boss.

Herbsaint is the easy answer. Hitting on all cylinders.

Tis true bro. You showing for the real Super Bowl on Saturday?

Time? Or do I have to look it up?

Match starts a 1:45. But, the crowd will be unlike anything you have seen there. I am getting there at 9:00.

Jeezus, there'd better be a paramedic on duty.

We walked in at around 11:45 and there was plenty available seating. The hostess was on the phone never acknowledging our presence as we stood by the door for a few minutes when finally a server walked up to seat us, this pissed me off right away. When our server arrived he had to read the daily specials off of his note pad and had no knowledge of the cocktails, again not very pleased with this. Furthermore he was pretty nonexistent throughout the meal and I actually had to get another server to take our dessert order and get our check. I started my meal with the chicken gumbo which was very well seasoned however it only had about two small pieces of chicken meat. For the main course I had the tuna sandwich which came with a side of greens dressed in a vinaigrette and home made chips. The sandwich itself was loaded with large pieces of tuna on olive bread with tomato, arugula, and an aeoli and was delicious. The other two dishes ordered were the goat salad with goat feta and the gnocchi. Both parties said their dishes were good with one saying their goat was overcooked. For dessert the table had the coconut tart with orange caramel and chocolate ice cream. The dish as a whole was overpowered by the acidity of the orange caramel and I could barely pick up a hint of coconut in the tart. Overall I was very disappointed by my experience since this place has received so much fanfare both on this board and other websites.

Wow, that sucks.
The issue with the hostess doesn't surprise me because I thought she was quite the bitch when I went for dinner. I am, however, very surprised by everything else, especially the service.

I think Herbsaint is pretty good for lunch, but their dinner menu/service is always much better.
