2005 loss to Tenn was huger than the loss to Georgia in the SECCCG because it ruined a perfect season that no one would have expected in wake of Katrina. Had they not melted down in the second half after playin so awesome in the first, they may have gone into the SECCG against Georgia in a totally new light with everything to play for in terms of a National title!

Miles would have been off to a roarin start!

The loss was pretty bad, but in the end I don't think it really changed anything in terms of national championship implications. Texas and USC began the season ranked ahead of us and I don't think we would have been able to jump them. This was the last year before the streak began, and before the SEC had the national clout it does now, in terms of getting the "benefit of the doubt" in a three way tie.

Really insane when you think how long ago that seems, that it was the last time a non-SEC team won the national title.

I wish that Tennessee team would have at least gone on to have a respectable season, and not have been so terrible. They're listed as a top 10 team, but they were 5-6 that year.

I feel like the '05 BCSNCG would've still been Texas vs USC.
