FWIW, we've had a bunch of dogs at this house and they all ate ol roy cheapo depot dog food and did just fine. All good healthy working dogs.

The only reason I started feeding diamond lamb and rice was because we got into bloodhounds and bloodhound crosses, and the breed is plagued with skin problems. They can't eat anything with corn in it during the hot months or they'll look like they have mange.

I talked to my vet friend, compared ingredients, and found that once you jump into the feeds in the $30/40lbs range, you're getting some good shite. Too far past that and you're getting into designer stuff that doesn't differ much from the mid-range priced feeds.

Don't buy feed based off the picture on the front of the bag, buy it based off of what the little white tag says.
