I would have to ask you, then, why don't BCS rankings come out until midway through the season? BECAUSE WE DON'T REALLY HAVE AN ACCURATE VIEW OF HOW GOOD A TEAM REALLY IS UNTIL HALFWAY THROUGH THE SEASON.
I'm not so dense as to fail to realize that preseason rankings helped LSU in '07 as we were ranked #1 almost the entire season which was one of the arguments made in our favor for putting us in the BCSCG then.
However, I'm not so sure pollsters thought we were #4 at the beginning of 2011 especially with all of the qb controversy going on. They ranked us that high because of the real reason rankings exist at all: to promote college football. We were ranked that high to create buzz for our opening game with Oregon. I believe the pollsters NEVER thought we would beat Oregon in Dallas AND West Virginia in Morgantown AND Bama in Toilet Town. We essentailly ruined their Saban coronation (while OK State pummlled their other darling, Stoops, into the ground) and went against recent history and public opinion to put at least one of the teams they wanted in the BCSCG from the very beginning of the season.

No, you put out an incredibly bogus statement, I called you out on it, and then you changed all of your criteria.. It went downhill from there..
Well you are entitled to your opinion, although that doesn't make it any less laughable.. A four seed, huh?
Still so much failure.. What was LSU's record last year? 13-0 or 13-1..? Alabama beat 7 teams with a winning record last season.. Quit spinning bullshite to suit your argument..
You misspoke on more than one aspect and it made both teams resume suit your argument, sorry buddy.. And it doesn't matter if Bama had the weakest resume in the history of anything, there was only one other team with an argument, and their argument was rendered weaker by a terrible loss to a terrible team..So, no matter the relative strength or weakness of their resume, Bama was the 2nd best team in the BCS.. (at that point.. later proven to be the best)

This is why I can't stand Bama people. I APOLOGIZED to you for the error, then took YOUR criteria and pointed out the facts. The only thing that went downhill was the fact that even with my original error (Bama beating three teams with a winning record) it still didn't improve the mirage you and your fan base is making about your 2011 resume. So, you beat FOUR teams with a winning record in the regular season and not THREE. Big friggin whoop.

The arguement was made about Bama's 2011 REGULAR SEASON accomplishments as compared to OSU's.
Again, in the REGULAR SEASON, Bama beat a grand total of FOUR teams with a winning record in a 12 game schedule, 3 of which were ranked. That's not impressive. Again, OSU beat more teams in the top 25 than Bama beat with winning records.
What is so difficult to understand? You took one error I stated, turned it over on its head, and ran with it, even after I agreed with you on my error. Why are you being an arse? I tried being nothing but cordial with you.

As a fan of CFB, it does matter. Like I said in a previous post, I can see where this wouldn't concern you, since you root for an entitled/media darling program. All you have to do is finish third in the conference, beat a few teams with a winning record, lose your most important game, and you're in. More power to you.

I don't blame you. I'd feel terrible if my team was granted something they obviously didn't earn as well. I kind of feel that way about the 2007 team with two loses.
Wait. No I don't. Now that I think about it, our 2007 accomplished more in the regular season than your 2011 team.

OSU beat 4 teams ranked in the final regular season BCS poll:
#24 Texas
#14 Oklahoma
#12 Baylor
#8 Kansas State
Alabama beat 3 teams ranked in the final regular season BCS poll:
#6 Arkansas
#22 Penn State
#25 Auburn
And also had a victory over Georgia Southern, a TEAM with a winning record..
Now, If you want to go by rankings at the time the games were played, they each beat 4 ranked opponents..
OSU beat 8 Bowl teams
Bama beat 6 Bowl teams
Looks a bit different than how you tried to spell it out.. I am not being an arse. I even said you make some good points, but there is no reason to cook the books.
