1. Definitely a movie for the fans of the book, which is rarely done. Why you probably feel that way.

4. There are some slow spots, I'll give you that, especially with Blanchett, but the movies are very well paced IMO.

The extended editions contain some dreadful scenes that were cut... some almost impossible to watch.
Trilogy is great if you don't take it too seriously.
