I didn't read it, just going off second hand info, my bad

It's okay.. sorry for jumping down your throat.

If my "Jesus was gay?" thread was the last straw and leads to us getting a Religion and Philosophy board, no one would be happier than I would be.

I've had many healthy dialogues about religion on the Poli Board. I was an agnostic most of my life and only recented converted to Catholicism. I have a very open mind and am willing to entertain anyone else's arguments regarding religion or philosophy.

Yeah, I might engage in a little flaming and trolling here and there. Let those of you without sin cast the first stone!

But I would be very sad the temporary ban on religious topics became permanent.

However, I am sorry the religious topics have become such a pain in the arse for the admins. I think, however, that is largely because people don't want to see religion clogging up the OT or the Poli Board.

We should at least give a Religion/Philosophy board a trial run and see how it works out.

Yep. I'd say that the hypothetical new Philosophy, Truth, and Morality Board is to the Poli Board what the Poli Board is to the O-T.

Everything about PoliTalk discussions that people on the OT hate are the same things about philosophical and religious discussions that people on the PoliTalk board hate.

It's just one big spectrum from whimsical and lighthearted to super cereal, deep, and personally uncomfortable.

Just like many people say, "atheists/theists who constantly debate all this stuff because they are insecure, and I'm secure so I don't want to debate it," I think is similar to the sentiment many OT people have about politics.

There are times when you want to keep discussion light and social, and not tread on controversial subjects, and there are other times when you get tired of all the same old trivial bullcrap, and you want to actually talk about something that has meaning.

The sound & fury of modern politics can in many ways be seen as just a middle ground between the random barbershop-style shooting of the shite found on the OT, and the super serious and personal "are you telling me Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball?" stuff that tends to occur when religion and philosophy get involved.
