In that sense, yes. But Pettit played in a different generation than Macklin, and did not have his athleticism (from what I've seen). Like I said, if we're casting them based on how they compared to their contemporaries, I'm taking Pettit. But if they just walked out onto a court together, I think Macklin would have the edge. Not necessarily a big one, and I think we'd still have the best starting five with Pettit. Heck, I almost put Tyrus Thomas in there just for the defense (since don't really need any more scoring).

Pettit not athletic? Check out these highlights and tell me that.

Plus Pettit was over 6'9" and Macklin a little under 6'7". Pettit had a much better outside shot, more moves and was an equally good rebounder.

Make no mistake, Bob Pettit was one of the all time greats!
