yeah i kinda thought this too. but most of the other walls in the house were already a light gray, and i wanted to differentiate it from the other rooms. plus the purple i picked out doesn't look bad on the walls imo.

my wife originally wanted to do gold/yellow. we painted the entire room and it was fricking horrible. so i really liked the purple compared to that

i didn't use the home depot colors. i got samples of them and put it on the wall, but it just didn't look right. the purple was too deep and it looked closer to dark blue/black

we have a sherwin williams close to the house so i ended up going there and got the purple i wanted. i think i tried 2-3 before i found one i liked. i can get you the name of it when i get home from work if you're interested
