Agreed on all points.

I don't know about Shavons height, but he has consistently been listed at 6-6 since HS. His own coach said he could play a little PF, if needed. I don't think anyone is counting on him in the post, other than as a fill in for a few minutes.

There are a fair amount of juco post players still available.

There is a kid at Pearl River CC that averaged 12 and 8. Listed at 6'9" I think. He started his career at Grambling. I'm blanking on his name right now, but there are rumblings that we're hiring an assistant from PRCC to the staff. I wonder if we're looking at this kid for a warm body down low?

Not many with impressive numbers, Bubba. I fear we're about to see some 6-9 Snake Castons and Chico Pottses.

The Odoh kid is a piece Johnny really needs to add here. And given the way things are, he ought to take Cothron and cross his fingers that the kid learned something from getting kicked off the team at Southern Idaho for six weeks this year. He had some really solid numbers this year - 14.0 ppg, 8.1 rpg and 2.3 blocks a game playing only 23 minutes a game, and he shot 56 percent from the floor.

If he got those two guys and Swilling (Swilling averaged 12.3 points a game at Southern Idaho, but a lot of the rest of his stat line sucked), plus Hammink and Coleman, he'd at least fill up his roster. If he could get Cothron without having to take Swilling and instead get Cousins, he might actually have some depth in the post.

I'm encouraged about two things Jones seems to have going for him, though neither one are particularly revolutionary. The fact that he's getting Randy in here is smart; Randy's been running an AAU tournament in New Orleans for several years at which everybody in the country is coming in for. But of course it's not so much that Jones is a genius for wanting to hire him, it's that Trent was a hard-headed dumbass for refusing to. Anybody would hire Randy. Glad to see Jones is anybody.

And the second thing is that Jones seems to carry a full 13 man roster. That seems like an obvious thing, but the guy we just got rid of was perfectly happy carrying 11 kids. And that might be OK if you're Kentucky or North Carolina, but we ain't Kentucky or North Carolina. When you're LSU, you need to carry 13 and you need to force your kids to compete hard against each other in practice so they improve - because most of them aren't blue-blood recruits like Kentucky's and North Carolina's are.
