Jamel James. Article from Gino says he is being recruited as a safety but I don't see him as a safety

Yes. Before the Petrino firing, they had 2 commits (both from Houston area). Now they have 0.

He was reconsidering before BP was let go. From the way he talks, he really wants an LSU offer at RB.

I still think we take one RB in this class and it obviously looks like it will be an OOS player

Katy has some 7th graders that could be starting on above avg highschool teams right now......we definately need to make some in-roads in recruiting that area for the future.

Jamel James

Jamel James Highlights

Another Katy RB
Adam Taylor

Adam Taylor Sophmore Highlights

I know everyone is looking at the 14 class with Leonard Fournette but still LSU can always use capable backs and not put all their eggs in one baskett with Fournette.

James weighs a bunch right now. He will probably outgrow the tailback position. He could become a fullback though. He would be a pretty big safety (weight wise) and so would think he would do best in a defense where he played a hybrid LB/S position if he plays defense.

All this being said, I would think LSU would have players higher up on the board at these positions.

I'd take Adam Taylor over him but James is a good talent but as already posted he has let his weight get out of control. Some kids can't carry it as well as others. Contrary to popular belief there really isn't a size limitation for a RB. It's all about how the back moves with the size. Brandon Jacobs is "too big" both in height and weight but seems to be doing pretty well in the NFL. Also Hilliard is no small guy and Jeremy Hill is 240. All about how fluid the kid is at that size. Spencer Ware got a little too big last year and it affected his movement but Hilliard and Hill are both bigger and move fine.

Jake Blomstrom, sophomore LB from Katy, has received letters from LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, among others. I've seen the 3 mentioned with my own eyes.

I've seen you mention Blostrom a few times and from what I hear from Texas people he's a good LB prospect. That said those recruiting letters are a dime a dozen. There are probably a hundred kids in the 2014 class with letters from LSU. Texas sends letters to a ton of kids in Texas. That's their lifeline. Nevertheless I hope the kid keeps getting our attention. I'd imagine it would be a great thrill for you to have someone in your personal life playing for LSU. It would be for me. I'd pimp them endlessly.
