Has anyone ever attended? I'm thinking of going to it this year. Just wanting to get some info from someone that has been before.

Yes, I went last year. We had such a good time that we immediately planned this years trip back at the end of last year's tourney.

Where did you stay? Closest I'm finding is in Jacksonville.

We get free rooms through Choice Hotel points so we are limited on what we can choose from. But it's free so who cares. Last year, we stayed at a crappy Quality Inn south of Jacksonville. This year we decided to move closer to the beach. We have a comfort or quality inn in Atlantic Beach which is just north of Jax Beach.

Ok I will check on Atlantic Beach. We were between the Players and the Wells Fargo, but I think the Players will be better choice. Just wanting to try and catch Tiger and that seems like our closest chance.

Honestly, TPC Sawgrass is not a bad drive from anywhere in Jacksonville. I would stay somewhere near the beach though because I just like it there more than in the city. It is an easy drive south to the course from either Jacksonville Beach or Atlantic Beach.
You will be making the right choice if you choose The Players. Great event. A ton of fun.

Yea I have already decided on the Players. I think it is a little better that the Wells Fargo. Thanks for your help. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated as well.

Yes, in the late 90's as a guest of Steve Jones (US Open champ in '96 at Oakland Hills). I've been to Bay Hill multiple times and the TPS is much better.
Great course and setting (of course it was nice that we got to eat at the players buffet and my friends pillaged the cigars).
You will enjoy. Do you plan to go for a single round or the entire tournament?

Plan on Friday-Sunday just in case Tiger misses the cut. We went to the PGA last year for Saturday and Sunday for the sole purpose if watching him and he missed the cut, so don't want that to happen again.

Sounds like a good plan.
I enjoyed the Thurs/Fri rounds more than the weekends since they usually play in threesomes for the first two rounds (not sure if they'll do this at the TPC). Allows you to see more golf.
I walked a lot of the course just so to see all the holes. If I remember (and it's been a while) there's an area (near #17? - famous island hole) where you can watch the approach/green for one hole, all of another and the tee shots on the next. Let's you take in a lot without having to move around.
As for where you stay, you may want to look at St. Augustine (20-30 minutes south) and lots of history (not your typical FL "plastic" tourist area). There's also the World Golf Village just down I-95.
Oh well, enjoy while the rest of us are green with envy.

Look at Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach. Staying in Jacksonville will put you 30 minutes or more from the course, and Jacksonville blows.
St. Augustine, Flagler, or Vilano Beaches are good options as well, but will probably be tough to find accommodations down there.

A few places I would suggest to hit up either at night or on a day when you don't go to tourney:
Bold City Brewery - Local Microbrewery - Hole in the wall place with really good beer. You can get a flight of their beers pretty cheap in their tasting room.
Kickback's Gastropub - Close to Bold City so you might want to hit up these places in same night- Nice place with a ton of taps
World Golf Hall of Fame - This is just south of Jacksonville in St Augustine
Culhane's Irish Pub - In Atlantic Beach, really good pub food - I liked this place a lot
There are a bunch of cool bar/restaurants in Jax Beach too. You can park and walk to a lot of those places.

Once you enter from the parking lot, you come in right by Hole 17. Go ahead and throw a camping chair down there for later in the afternoon. Then you can go find a group to follow and see the course. After lunch or late afternoon, come back to 17,kick back, relax, and enjoy.

I could sit on 17 for 5 days straight and I would be content not going to any other part of the course

Thanks guys, I will check out all the mentioned places to stay. I'm just looking for something closer to the course if possible. And thanks about mentioning the hall of fame, I forgot all about it. Going to try my best to check it out.

I'll add:
Salt Life Food Shack - Jax Beach
Poe's Tavern - Atlantic Beach
Palm Valley Fish Camp or Lulu's Waterfront - Ponte Vedra (on the Intercoastal)
The Green Room - Jax Beach (Microbrewery, no food)

Probably too late for that unfortunately. It is a very big event down here.

Thanks for the additions. I've heard Salt Life is really good. I'd have to check out some of these places this year.
