In 1973 Memphis lost to UCLA in the NCAA finals, when Bill Walton had a nearly perfect game (21/22 from the field). 1986 was the year LSU beat them in the second round at the last second (and my grandfather was so pissed that he drove off and left my parents--who were bigger LSU fans--in Baton Rouge).
