This is the equivalent of a boxing trainor encouraging devastating body blows in a fight. It is a figure of speech.
My old coach in 4th grade always said - "the body goes where the head goes."

Correct. "Kill the head" is a euphamism for make their arse quit. If their head isn't in it, if they are tentative, looking over their shoulder, hearring footsteps, you have won the battle. Winning the game is sure to follow.
