Deal isn't official yet, but it will be by the end of tonight/tomorrow morning.

quote:

Nebraska is negotiating a contract with Colorado State coach Tim Miles to replace Doc Sadler and a deal is expected to get done later Friday, according to multiple sources.

Miles still needs to meet with Colorado State officials Friday night and has to speak with his team before making it official. Lawyers are finishing the deal.

The contract, according to a source, is a five-year contract with a rollover for a sixth. Miles is due $1.4 million a year and then goes up $75,000 a year. The contract would be an estimated $8.7 million over six years.

A Nebraska spokesperson said no news conference has been scheduled, but according to a source, a conference is tentatively scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

I like it. Seems like it's about the best Nebraska can get at this point. Let's face it, it's a black hole college basketball job.

I just hope Miles, with the help of a brand new state of the art arena set to open in 2013 will help get this program to be at least respectable.

I don't expect to ever be a championship caliber team. I'd just like to make the tournament a few times.

Yes, RIP to his coaching career. Because every Nebraska coach has come into the job with a state of the art facility opening in the next few years. A state of the art practice facility. (Not to mention, the arena and practice facility are on line with any major colllege basketball coaching job in the country. A job in one of the top conferences in the country.

Thanks for your trolling, though. I cannot wait to bump this thread in 2-3 years when Nebraska makes the tournament.

That's a good hire. Of all the "football" schools in the country, though, UNL seems to have the biggest branding issue with its hoops program. The perception outside of Neb. Is hoops is way down the trough there.... Much further down than at LSU, Florida, UT, USC, tOSU, etc.. even Bama.

One good run in the tourney can change a lot.

He is in the big 10 idk how he is going to win. He can have all those great things but no one really suceeds there really.

Update

Nebraska just had it's biggest recruiting weekend of all time. No joke.

Handful of kids were on hand, including the 2014 #2 overall player in the nation Jahlil Okafor.

Coach Miles is doing some serious work. I've never seen basketball buzzing this much around the state.

the Nebraska AD says he hopes that being in the big ten will let them recruit Chicago.

They would be better off trying to recruit the Quad cities.
Its closer and not so sophisticated.

I don't see Nebraska being able to consistently win against OSU, Michigan St, Wisconsin, Indiana, Purdue or Michigan. They are playing for 7th place most years IMO FWIW and even then its a battle against Minnesota, Illinois and Northwestern. Depth of the B1G in basketball is crazy right now.

I'll agree with that.

I think if Miles can lead this team to a tournament or two, and when the new arena opens in 2013, Nebraska can at least be a middle of the pack team in the B1G.
